The last track: Fish Records and STREAT Graze & Bar to close in Stone

Two well-known Stone businesses have announced their closure, marking the end of an era for music lovers and food enthusiasts alike. Fish Records, an independent record shop that has been part of the town’s retail scene since May 2018, and STREAT Graze & Bar, a popular evening spot since November 2018, have both confirmed they are ceasing trading at their physical locations – although Fish carries on online.

Fish Records: The final spin

Fish Records

Fish Records, which opened in May 2018 on the High Street, has announced it will close its shop on 1st March 2025. However, the business itself will continue online at www.fishrecords.co.uk, offering an expanded range of music for collectors and enthusiasts.

Originally launched as a physical extension of the well-established online store, the Stone shop quickly became a haven for folk, roots, and acoustic music fans. It stocked a carefully curated selection of albums and hosted in-store performances, bringing a unique musical presence to the town.

Announcing the closure on Facebook, the team at Fish Records stated:

“It is with regret that we at Fish Records announce the closure of our Stone shop from 1 March 2025. Unfortunately, it is no longer viable to operate a physical record store. We will continue to operate online with an enhanced and expanded offer.”

Reflecting on their seven years in the town, they thanked customers who had supported them, adding a touch of humour about the number of people still discovering them for the first time:

“To those who still come in and say ‘I didn’t know Stone had a record shop’—well, it won’t from 1 March!”

For those looking to grab a final bargain, Fish Records will be holding a closing-down sale throughout March with 40% off all stock.

STREAT Graze & Bar: A heartfelt farewell

STREAT Graze and Bar

Meanwhile, STREAT Graze & Bar, which opened in November 2018, has also announced its closure. The restaurant and bar confirmed the news in a Facebook post on 6th February 2025, expressing appreciation for the customers who made the venue special.

“With a heavy heart, we announce that Streat has officially closed. This journey has been an incredible one, and we are beyond grateful for all the love, laughter, and unforgettable memories we’ve shared with you.”

The post went on to confirm that all bookings, orders, and reservations are now cancelled, apologising for any inconvenience caused.

STREAT was celebrated for its relaxed atmosphere, vibrant menu, and strong connection with the local food scene. In their farewell, the owners reflected on what made the business more than just a place to eat:

“Streat was never just a restaurant—it was a home filled with flavours, friendships, and passion. Though this chapter has ended, the memories and connections we’ve built will stay with us forever.”

While they have not indicated what the future holds, they signed off with the message:

“This isn’t goodbye—it’s see you later.”

What’s next for these locations?

The closures of Fish Records’ physical store and STREAT Graze & Bar leave two well-known premises vacant in Stone, though there is no word yet on what will replace them.

For Fish Records, the shift to an online-only presence signals the changing landscape of independent music retail, while STREAT’s closure marks the loss of another independent dining venue in the town.

Both businesses leave behind fond memories and loyal customers who will undoubtedly feel their absence.
