Abnormal load expected on the A34 through Stone on Saturday morning

Drivers using the A34 on Saturday 7 February 2026 are being advised to expect potential disruption due to an abnormal load movement.

Staffordshire Police

The load is due to leave GE in Stafford at around 8 am and will travel through Stafford before heading north towards Stone and on to Newcastle Under Lyme.

Its route will include Weston Road and Beaconside in Stafford, before joining the A34 northbound into Stone. From there, it will continue along the A34 towards Newcastle, looping around Fountains Island before rejoining the A34 north through Bradwell and on towards Box Crossroads.

As the load passes, there may be temporary road closures, rolling roadblocks at junctions and delays for traffic travelling behind it.

At times, the convoy may need to use the incorrect side of the carriageway to safely negotiate junctions and bends. This is a normal part of abnormal load movements and will be managed by escort vehicles.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for journeys on Saturday morning, particularly if travelling along the A34 through Stone.
