A mobile NHS Health Check van is due to visit Stone Leisure Centre on two dates this spring, offering free checks for eligible residents.

The van is set to be at Stone Leisure Centre on Monday 27 April and Thursday 28 May, with appointments and walk ins available from 8.30am to 3.30pm.
The checks are aimed at people aged 40 to 74. They are designed to spot early signs of conditions including heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and diabetes, and to help people understand how to reduce their risk. People aged over 65 are also given information about the signs of dementia.
According to Everyone Health Staffordshire, the free check usually takes around 20 to 30 minutes and includes simple tests such as blood pressure, height, weight, BMI, cholesterol and a diabetes risk assessment.
The service is available to Staffordshire residents aged 40 to 74 who have not had an NHS Health Check in the last five years and do not already have certain pre existing conditions, including stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, a heart condition, diagnosed high blood pressure, or high cholesterol.
Stone residents can either walk in on the day or book in advance by texting HEART to 60777 or calling 0333 005 0095. Everyone Health also lists booking through its Staffordshire health checks service – https://staffordshire.everyonehealth.co.uk
