The Bobski – the groundbreaking new sledge that has been made in Stone – came second in a special sledge test on hit TV programme The Gadget Show tonight, and was also named ‘best price’ sledge.
The brilliant result will mean a very busy Christmas for husband-and-wife team Keith and Elly Handy as the orders came pouring in as soon as the programme had ended.
The sledges are put together in the couple’s workshop in Stone, with lots of Stone and Staffordshire companies playing their part in their construction. The workshop will certainly be a hive of activity now!
Elly, peaking just 15 minutes after the programme ended, said: “The orders are just pinging in. We’ve had 15 in the last 15 minutes. The show couldn’t have gone any better for us and to come second out of 20 sledges is just brilliant. The ‘best price’ award is the icing on the cake. It’s fantastic to put Stone on the snow map!”
