Characters from across 1,000 years of Sandon’s past will gather at All Saints’ Church on Saturday 1 August for a free day of reenactments, music and family activities.
Sandon Time Travellers will run from 10am to 4pm as part of the church’s National Lottery Heritage Fund project.
Visitors will be able to meet characters representing different periods of local history, including medieval nobles, Tudor gentry, First World War nurses and soldiers.
The History Reenactment Workshop will portray local Tudor characters, while families can take part in crafts, games, a history trail and dressing up.
Members of the church’s own history group will also give timed costumed performances based on their research into people from the local area.
A concert of historical music will take place from 12.30pm to 1.30pm, with tea and cake also available during the day.
The event follows a series of summer activities at All Saints’.
Cantiamo Chamber Choir performed at a midsummer concert on Saturday 20 June, while an exhibition by Art for Everyone was held over the weekend of 27 and 28 June.
The church said 185 people visited the exhibition. The weekly art group meets on Saturday mornings and is led by local artist Clare Lord.
A further free Heritage Open Day is planned for Sunday 20 September, with more information due to be announced nearer the time.
