Uttoxeter Road closure affects access to Aston Lodge

A section of Uttoxeter Road has closed for highway repair and maintenance work, affecting residents on Aston Lodge and drivers travelling through the area.

Road Closed Sign

The closure began at earlier today, Wednesday 22 July, and is listed on Staffordshire County Council’s roadworks map until 8pm on Sunday 26 July.

Residents reported some confusion over access arrangements when the closure came into force this morning.

People leaving Aston Lodge, along with residents of properties on Uttoxeter Road up to Little Stoke Bowling Club, are currently being directed over the railway crossing and towards Lichfield Road.

Anyone returning to those properties will need to approach from Lichfield Road. Workers managing the closure should then allow residents to continue to their homes.

The temporary traffic order allows vehicles requiring access to properties on or immediately next to the affected road to pass through the restriction.

Drivers who do not need access should follow the diversion and instructions provided by workers at the closure points.

Staffordshire County Council describes the work as weather dependent mobile highway repair and maintenance. It says the road will be closed for four days within the listed date window, with timings subject to change because of weather and available resources.

Closures linked to mobile highway work can be fluid as crews progress and move between sections of the road. Anyone planning to travel along Uttoxeter Road while the work is taking place should allow extra time, follow the current signage and be prepared for the traffic management arrangements to change.
