Post office set for move into Co-op

Post Office Ltd wants to move Stone’s post office into the Co-op supermarket in the High Street from its current base just across the road.

The Post Office has now started a consultation to hear what local people have to say. It says moving the post office into the Co-op would result in a modern branch with longer opening hours. The post office counter would be open in the Co-op from 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 5.30pm on a Saturday.

The Post Office says the same range of services and products would be available.

The consultation is open until Tuesday 13th November.

  • PLEASE could the Post Office employ new friendly and helpful staff – PLEASE

  • I haven’t been to Stone in a few months, has the Co-op closed or relocated or what?

  • Hi Chris – absolutely! I think a move for the post office into the Co-op is probably a good thing. I just worry about another empty building in the High Street… ^Jamie

  • Another empty building on the high street? Longer opening hours would ultimately benefit the town though. Also the current building is so dirty and depressing..

    • Yes, the current building is a mess isn’t it? Things haven’t been right for years, and especially after it closed down unexpectedly last year was it??
