Alleyne’s Academy is bringing back its school library and is calling on the Stone community to help turn the page on a brand-new chapter.
The school lost its dedicated library space a few years ago following the departure of the school librarian. Since then, the room was used for other purposes. But with a renewed focus on reading, a passionate staff team and plenty of student enthusiasm, plans are now well underway to reopen the library as a welcoming space where young people can rediscover a love for books.
Hundreds of books already donated
In just one week, more than 650 books have already been donated by students, parents, staff and supporters. A recent house competition helped drive donations, and the school says it has been overwhelmed by the generosity shown so far.
Ongoing support needed to restock the shelves
While the response so far has been fantastic, Alleyne’s is keen to keep the momentum going. The school is still looking for help from the wider community to grow its new library and create a lasting resource for students.
Here’s how you can get involved:
- Donate via Amazon Wish List – Click here for the Amazon Wishlist
The school has put together a list of books that would be ideal for the library. Select a book, add it to your basket with the ‘gift option’ and make sure it’s delivered to:
Library Committee, Alleyne’s Academy, Oulton Road, Stone ST15 8DT
Include your name in the gift message so the school can thank you and place a bookplate in your donated book. - Support local bookshops
Prefer to shop independent? Check the wish list, buy the book locally or through Hive.co.uk, and send it into school with a note to the Library Committee. - Give your pre-loved books a new home
If you’ve got good-quality books at home that need a new audience, the school would be happy to receive them.
Every book makes a difference
The new library will be a dedicated space for students to relax, read, and explore new ideas. Every donation, whether brand new or well-loved, will help create a lasting resource for the school community.

I spent many happy hours in that library and have good quality books to donate. Do I just take them to reception?
