Following the retirement of long-term head Karen Lockett, the Alleyne’s governors have announced details on the new head, who will start in January 2025.
On announcing the news, the governors issued the following details:
Governors are delighted to share with you the news that we have appointed Lindsay Tibbs as Alleyne’s new headteacher from January 2025. Lindsay Tibbs will be joining us from Sir John Thursby Community College in Burnley where she currently has part time Acting Headteacher responsibilities, having been the Deputy Headteacher for many years. She was successful in what was a highly competitive selection process against a strong group of candidates and says: “I am thrilled to have been appointed to lead such a great school and I am looking forward to getting to know the whole school and its community.”
Although Mrs Tibbs cannot formally join us until January, she will be at the school one day a week from the beginning of October. We are pleased to say that Craig Bailey, currently one of Alleyne’s Deputy Headteachers, has accepted the role of Interim Headteacher for the Autumn term.
I would like to thank Karen Lockett for her many years of hard work and dedication at Alleyne’s, recognised not only by all of us in her school community but by colleagues across Staffordshire and beyond. Karen joined the school nearly 27 years ago progressing to be our Headteacher 15 years ago. When she took over the school we were rated ‘Satisfactory’ by Ofsted and it was Karen’s leadership and drive that took the school to Good in 2011. At that time, we were very low down in any county performance tables; last year we were ninth in the county for added value it offers to our pupils. But exams are not everything and Karen cares greatly about the wellbeing of staff and students in her care. Karen has always been a Headteacher who took the time to know her students and make herself available to them. We all know how important the school is to Karen and we all wish her well in her retirement.
