Alleyne’s pool set for January re-opening

The swimming pool at Alleyne’s Sports Centre in Stone could be open again on Monday 13th January.

The pool has been closed since the end of October after a broken circulation pipe caused damage to a filter pump and electrical circuit board. Investigation and repair work has been going on, with the costs being split between Alleyne’s Academy and Stafford Borough Council.

A school spokeswoman said today: “Works on the swimming pool are well under way. It is planned to start circulating and filling the pool on 22nd/23rd December. Water sampling and testing will then take place, the plant room will be serviced and commissioned on 6th January and, if all goes to plan, we will open the pool on Monday 13th January 2014.”

All other activities on the ‘dry’ side at Alleyne’s Sports Centre continue as normal, with life-guard training taking place at Stafford Leisure Centre. Customers with Alleyne’s swim passes can use it at Stafford while the pool in Stone is out of action.
