Appeal to Recover Missing Student Funds Running Out of Time

We all make mistakes, some bigger than others, and for Sue Dyke’s son a small mistake has turned into a big problem.

22821465Sue messaged us at ALBOS, with the following details:

“My 20 year old student son has an HSBC account at the Stone branch. In 2014, he made the mistake of giving the wrong account number to his employer when he started Bangor University. Since then over £1300 has been paid into the wrong account at the Stone branch. All means of retrieving this money have been explored however it appears that the account is no longer in use.

The bank are unable to transfer the money back to my son until the original account holders give their permission and they can’t be contacted, we believe it to be a business account. So when the bank closes my son will lose all hope of retrieving his earning, and for a student that’s pretty tough. We would really appreciate people/business’s locally checking their unused accounts and make the HSBC bank aware if they have payments during 2014/2015 that do not belong to them.”
