The cream of Staffordshire’s culinary talent will be taking to the stage again this year to share their expertise with the crowds at this year’s Food and Drink Festival on the festival from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th October.
Staffordshire’s most talented chefs will top the bill, with seasoned professionals and well-known faces rubbing shoulders with upcoming young stars.
The line-up includes:
- Paul Gilmore from Restaurant Gilmore
- The Lewis Partnership’s Matt Davies
- Richard Cullen from The Spot Gate
- Alan Jones from Keele Hall Restaurant
- Peter Nullis and Russell Beardsmore from La Dolce Vita
- Granvilles’ Sam Gillick
- Andrew Keeling from Aston Marina
- Stone’s 14 year-old cookery whizz-kid Jack Taylor.
They will be joined by the victors of the 2012 Taste of Staffordshire Masterchef competition – including the Masterchef himself, Matt Warburton of Rouge Recruitment, and the 2011 and 2012 champion Young Chef of the Future Ruby Rainey from Keele Hall Restaurant.
Festival chairman Richard Stevens said: “One of the aims of the Stone Food & Drink Festival is to help put Staffordshire firmly on the ‘culinary map’. It’s a county that has been much overlooked in terms of a foodie destination, but there’s a treasure trove of great restaurants headed up by very talented chefs who make the most of the wonderful fresh produce that’s available locally.
“By encouraging local chefs to take to the stage in the demonstration kitchen we’re not only providing them with a platform to show the public what they can do, but also helping fuel the growing interest in local food that is being nurtured by numerous TV programmes at present.”
Demonstrations will take place on the hour, every hour, and are free of charge to those who have already paid for entry to the festival’s main Westbridge Park site. Tickets are available on the gate, priced at £6pp per day or £15pp for a three-day ticket, with accompanied under-16s getting in for free. However, to avoid queues on the ‘big weekend’ advance tickets purchased via www.stonefooddrink.org.uk or the new festival office in Mill Street will allow holders to use a special ‘fast-track’ lane.
