Date set for Stone Christmas lights switch on

Stone will kick off the festive season next month

Stone’s Christmas lights switch on is back next month. It is the night that starts the town’s festive run-up.

Large crowd gathered on Stone High Street at night, under the illuminated “Seasons Greetings from Stone” sign, with snow effects falling.

Thursday 20 November 2025 on the High Street

The event is being run by Stone Town Council and will take place on Thursday 20 November 2025.

Entertainment starts from 5 pm on the High Street. Performances run through the evening. The big switch on is planned for 7 pm.

There will be stalls and a few rides to add to the atmosphere, something for families to dip into while they wait.

“Put the date in your diary”

Councillor Jill Hood, who chairs the Tourism and Town Promotion Sub Committee, said the switch on is always one of the busiest nights of the year.

“The Switch On is an extremely popular event so please put the date in your diary,” she said. “Make sure you get into town early to claim a good spot.”

Granville Square's Plane Tree lit with coloured baubles and white fairy lights, with the town’s war memorial statue in the foreground.

Backed by high street funding

This year’s event is supported by Stafford Borough Council’s High Street Boost campaign and the UK Government.

The Town Council says planning is already well underway, and we’ll share more details when they’re released.
