The future of the Ethel Austin store in the High Street has been thrown into doubt after new owner Life & Style retail went into administration.
The company was formed from the remnants of the Ethel Austin fashion chain, which collapsed in March last year, resulting in the closure of stores around the country, including in Stafford.
Simon Bonney, the joint administartor, said the business will continue to trade as normal while a buyer is sought but added that “some of the stores are expected to close in the coming weeks”.
The Stone store moved into the old Woolworth’s site in 2009. Notices had been put up in the store on Saturday about the administration.
