A new fence and gate have appeared on the field opposite Christ Church Academy in Stone.

Stafford Borough Council has confirmed to A Little Bit of Stone that they installed the fencing to prevent further unauthorised camps on the site, which has seen several incidents of vehicles and caravans being driven onto the field in recent years.
The council said the new barrier is designed to stop vehicle access while keeping a gate for maintenance teams. The work follows repeated incidents where groups parked caravans on the land, sometimes remaining for several days before enforcement action could be taken.
The field off Old Road is regularly used by dog walkers, children from the nearby school and residents crossing to the Common Plot. Some locals had questioned the purpose of the new fencing after it was erected earlier this month.
Similar measures have been introduced at other green spaces across the borough to reduce disruption and clean-up costs caused by unauthorised access.
