Sandon Hall will revive its role as a recovery home for wounded soldiers during the First World War on Sunday 26th June with the help of re-enactors.
Wounded soldiers will have their injuries treated in a medical ward before recovering in the peace and quiet of the library. Meanwhile, fresh troops will be camped in the grounds and preparing for the upcoming Somme campaign with drills and firearms practice.
A wide range of war memorabilia will be on display for visitors to look at, and there will be children’s activities too including poppy making. Refreshments will be available and the gardens, especially beautiful in the summer, will be open to explore.
