Football and classic fairy tales will come together at Stone Library during the school summer holidays.
Footy Fairy Tales, a theatre show aimed at children aged four to 11, will be performed at the library at 10.30am on Wednesday 19 August.
Created by Yarnbird Arts, the show combines storytelling, live music and songs with the excitement of a football match.
Characters include striker Cindy-Ella, who is trying to find her spark, and Little Red Riding Hoodie, who must stay on the right path and defeat a troll determined to enforce a ban on ball games.
The Stone performance is part of a tour visiting 12 Staffordshire libraries during August.
Tickets cost £3 for the first child and 50p for each additional sibling. Adults and children aged under three can attend free of charge.
Families are advised to book in advance and can pay for tickets at the Stone Library desk.
Sophia Hatfield, co-director of Yarnbird Arts, wrote the text and music and also performs in the show.
She said
“This show is a great activity for young readers, footy enthusiasts and families with children of all ages.
“Expect super songs, live music and a big dose of football fever, with a fairy tale twist.
“This is great live theatre, right on your doorstep, in your friendly local library.”
Footy Fairy Tales was created by Yarnbird Arts in partnership with Denton West End Community Library and Big Imaginations, with funding from Immersive Arts UK.
The Footy Fairy Tales show will tour the following libraries:
- Lichfield Library (10.30am) and Tamworth Library (2.30pm) on Monday 10 August
- Newcastle Library (10.30am) and Kidsgrove Library (2.30pm) on Tuesday 11 August
- Uttoxeter Library (10.30am) and Burton Library (2.30pm) on Wednesday 12 August
- Rugeley Library (10.30am) and Cannock Library (2.30pm) on Thursday 13 August
- Codsall Library (10.30am) and Perton Library (2.30pm) on Tuesday 18 August
- Stone Library (10.30am) and Stafford Library (2.30pm) on Wednesday 19 August
