Free Christmas car parking in Stone

Car parking will be free in Stone town centre on the two Saturday afternoons before Christmas after Stafford Borough Council decided to waive charges in the run-up to Christmas.

The council has chosen two key afternoons before the big day to waive parking charges for motorists in a move that will provide a timely boost to businesses by encouraging more people to shop in the town.

It means hundreds of spaces on the three council car parks in Stone (Westbridge Park, Crown Street and Christ Church Way) will be free to use after 1 pm on Saturday 11th and 18th December.

Cabinet member for planning and regeneration, Councillor Doug Davis, said: “These are two of the busiest shopping days of the year and we wanted to help local retailers by encouraging more people to come into town and do their Christmas shopping. Stone is a proper market town and a great place for shoppers and visitors.”
