From Langtrys to The X Factor for Sam Bailey!

X Factor finalist Sam Bailey sung at Langtrys three times

Prison officer Sam Bailey swept to victory in the final of this year’s X Factor – but it wasn’t too long ago that she was singing in Langtrys in Stone!

The member of Sharon Osbourne’s over-25s category, Sam wowed the crowd, judges and a TV audience of millions at the first live shows at the weekend.

But local people at Langtrys got a taster of her amazing vocal talent back in July and August this year when she performed at the pub in Oulton Road.

Langtrys landlady Rita Durkin said: “We knew in August that Sam had made it through to bootcamp. She told us but we had to keep it a secret! But we had no idea she’d made it through to the live shows, so it was a lovely surprise. She’s a lovely lady and we wish her all the best.

“She went down a storm at Langtrys – the locals absolutely loved her. I’ve bet £10 that she’ll make it all the way to the last three on The X Factor. But I don’t think she’ll be performing here again somehow!”

Patricia Drabble was in Langtrys when Sam performed in August. Patricia said: “She seemed quite shy and we thought, ‘Oh dear, this won’t be good’. But we stayed, she started to sing and we were blown away. Everyone was shocked by the power in her voice, and the notes she hit could have made the glasses on the bar smash!”

Sam belted out Listen by Beyonce in her first X Factor audition – and she sung this at Langtrys too. There’s a video of Sam in action at Langtrys below, taken from the pub’s excellent Facebook page.
