Further appeal after man left with fractured skull in Stone assault

Police have issued a further appeal for witnesses after a man suffered serious injuries in an assault in Stone.

Staffordshire Police said the man had been walking with his wife and adult son on Stafford Road at 12.30am on Sunday 21 June when they encountered two men near a bus stop, close to Walton roundabout.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was assaulted and suffered a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain.

Police said he remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The victim’s son was also assaulted by the men and suffered minor injuries.

Following the assault, the two suspects ran off in the direction of the underpass.

One suspect is described as being in his mid-20s, around 5ft 9ins tall, with dark hair styled in a square cut around his face.

The second suspect is also described as being in his mid-20s with blonde hair. No further description has been released at this stage.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who thinks they may know the suspects, or anyone who was in the area at the time of the assault.
