Have your say on Stafford Borough future

A series of exhibitions as part of a Stafford Borough wide consultation will give people the opportunity to find out more on future plans for the area.

Residents and businesses will be asked to comment on the levels of new housing and employment land required over the next 20 years, and how these might be distributed across the borough. Along with new housing and business development, the borough council are looking for your opinions on other key issues for the future of the area including climate change, economic prosperity, and town centres.

Councillor Frances Beatty, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Planning, encouraged residents and businesses to get involved in the consultation.

She said: “This is an important time for our borough, which like many districts across the UK will need to accommodate significantly more development over the next 15 years and beyond. The challenge for us all is to balance our economic growth with a good life for our communities, whilst protecting our valued environment.

“So we want your help in shaping Stafford Borough’s future so that our young people can find jobs; older people are supported as they age; tourism and new businesses grow and prosper; that the community is healthy and active; the built and natural environment are protected and that climate change is tackled.”

Council officers will be on hand to answer questions at four public exhibitions as part of the consultation over February and March at:

  • Monday 24 February, 4pm to 8pm: Jubilee Room, Eccleshall Community Centre
  • Wednesday 26 February, 4pm to 7pm: Hixon Memorial Hall
  • Saturday 29 February, 12pm to 4pm: Stafford Central Library
  • Tuesday 3 March 4pm to 8pm: Westbridge Room, Christchurch, Stone
