Some of the best local stories do not begin with an official announcement or a press release. They begin with someone noticing something, achieving something, organising something or deciding that an issue deserves more attention.
A Little Bit of Stone wants to hear more of those stories from Stone and the surrounding villages.
That could mean news from a community group, sports club, school, charity, church, neighbourhood or voluntary organisation. It could be a fundraising achievement, an anniversary, an award, an interesting local person, a new project or something unusual that has happened where you live.
You do not need to be a journalist or send us a finished article. A few clear details and a photograph are often enough for us to get started.
Regular updates are welcome
We would particularly like to hear from local groups and organisations that could send us updates regularly.
Stone and the surrounding villages have a huge number of clubs, societies, teams and community groups doing things that deserve to be seen by a wider audience.
Updates do not have to cover major events. They might include competition results, new members, presentations, visits, volunteering, forthcoming plans or a look back at what your group has been doing.
We can work with rough notes, bullet points or information taken from a newsletter. We will check the details, tidy the wording and contact you where anything needs clarifying.
One story is still worth sending
You do not need to become a regular contributor.
Perhaps someone from Stone has completed a personal challenge, raised money for charity, received an award or reached an important milestone.
Maybe you have spotted a local problem, heard about a planned change or know about something residents ought to be aware of.
Even if you are unsure whether it is a story, send it across. We would rather hear about something and decide it is not for us than miss a good local story altogether.
Please include the names of those involved, what happened, where and when it took place, and any useful contact details. Original photographs are also welcome, provided you have permission for them to be published.
Share your view
We also welcome letters and considered opinions about issues affecting Stone and the nearby villages.
This could be about transport, roads, development, local facilities, the town centre, community life or another matter that deserves discussion.
Letters should focus on the issue rather than making personal attacks. We will need your full name and contact details, although contact details will not be published. Please tell us if you have a relevant role, membership or personal interest that readers should know about.
Publication is at the editor’s discretion, and letters may be edited for length, clarity and legal reasons.
