Inner Wheel members plan Stone awareness walk for global anti violence campaign

A short community walk will take place in Stone on Tuesday 25 November as local members of Inner Wheel join a worldwide initiative to raise awareness of violence against women.

The group will set off from Stone Station at 10 am, and head through the town to Marks and Spencer for a coffee before returning to the station.

The date aligns with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, marked each year on 25 November. Inner Wheel clubs across the world take part in the campaign, often choosing visible routes so the message can be seen within their communities.

Participants in Stone will be wearing orange, the colour used globally to symbolise hope for a future free from violence. Residents may notice small groups walking in orange along Station Road and the High Street during the morning.

A member of the local group said, “We will be wearing Orange. Anyone that would like to join us on the walk would be more than welcome.”

Inner Wheel has a long presence in the town, with members supporting local causes and taking part in wider awareness events.
