Knights return to Stone for St. George’s Day – 20th April 2019

Following last years brilliant event, Stone Town Council are once again celebrating Saint George’s Day with a medieval event in the town!

Stone’s Market Square is expected to be bathed in sunlight so why not come along and see the Black Knights take on Saint George?

A horseback parade will start the event at 1:00 pm with Saint George being led from the top of Stone High Street down to the Market Square.

Once in the Market Square, the Black Knights will fight Saint George and his men in front of the assembled crowd.

There will be an opportunity to experience wearing medieval armour and a children’s medieval fancy dress competition themed on knights, damsels and dragons.

In addition to the event, there will also be a craft market at the lower end of the High Street and the usual town market at the upper end.

Councillor Jill Hood, Vice Chairman of the Council’s Tourism and Town Promotion Sub-Committee, said:
“Come along to the Market Square and cheer on your favourites in the battle between Saint George and the Black Knights”.
