Good news – the end of the Meaford roadworks in in sight. Staffordshire County Council says the road scheme is on schedule for a May finish.
The 12-month reconstruction of part of the A34 will pave the way for the construction of the new business park and gas-fired power station by developer St Modwen. With over three-quarters of the job done, the project team says work will finish before the Whitsun weekend in May (15th/16th), as scheduled.
The scheme, which was the county’s second Government Growth Deal funded project to get off the ground, includes the construction of new roundabouts on Meaford Road at its junctions with the A34 and Rookery Lane to allow easy access to the business park site. Meaford Road has been realigned and a new 300-metre road built into the business park. Access for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders is also being improved.
The latest phase of the Meaford roadworks will see Rookery Lane open again at the end of this month. Meaford Road is planned to open on schedule on 24th May.
