A decision on a controversial plan to build more than 30 homes next to a conservation area has been delayed after the borough council’s planning committee decided to visit the site of the planned development.
The application by Seddon Homes for up to 34 homes on land east of Airdale Spinney went before Stafford Borough Council’s planning committee on Friday 22nd February. Councillors voted for a site visit before making their decision.
The plans have met with fierce opposition from nearby residents, who have concerns about road safety and impact on the neighbouring Moddershall Valley Conservation area.
Airdale Spinney resident John Sayer said: “A decision was made to defer the decision until after a site visit. Councillors Joyce Farnham and Philip Leason (who are not members of the Planning Committee but are the ward councillors) spoke against the development as did local resident Gill Stanford. The Planning Committee were clearly concerned by the heritage issues, as well as traffic issues in the area, and decided that they needed to see the area for themselves before making a decision.”
Seddon Homes says the new development is the “natural continuation of the Airdale Spinney development” that was built 25 years ago. More information about the planning application HERE.
