It’s only ruddy time for the next Assorted Records music blog! Alright don’t be too excited then… So what’s been happening in our little world since last we spoke?
I mentioned in the last blog that the UK’s first pre-festival event was happening in Stafford’s Victoria Park on the 17th August. Well it did indeed happen and was a pretty cool day. The line-up was a great mix of styles and most importantly local talent was laced throughout.

Also had a monster of a time at Number 15 in Stafford, with the latest instalment of the Assorted Records/Number 15 Acoustic nights, featuring (as always) a stellar line up, consisting of Dave Norcup, Daniel John Marsden, GeorGIA Stanway, James Peate and James Flanagan.
Gigs upcoming
Got some pretty tasty gigs coming up in the not too distant future..let me get the shameless self promotion out the way first…
12th October – Sophie Bohanan and her band will be heading down to the bright lights of London town to play a support slot at The Constitution in Camden. Should be a good ‘un.
As some of you may or probably don’t know I do the occasional music night over at Number 15 in Stafford, got one on the 17th November which is also the day of the Stafford Christmas Lights switch-on – and you know you’re in good hands when the superb local band that are High House will be playing, along with Dave Norcup and Laura Poppit, who you’ll probably know from her acoustic nights at The Royal Exchange in Stone.
This month, I have mostly been listening to…
Gotta say, I’ve been listening to a lot of Simon and Garfunkel this month, I’d always known of them and obviously know their most famous songs, but never really sat down and studied an album, so this was very much long overdue.
Local hidden gems
I’ve got to talk about the band that I saw for the first time at Q in the Park – The Michael Emmerson Band, a four-piece consisting of bass, electric and acoustic guitar, plus male and female vocals. Franky they blew me away, I had to stop fiddling with faders and stop and listen. Still can’t believe I’d never even heard of them until then.
