Stone motorists are being advised that overnight road closures on the A34 between Stone and Stafford will be taking place this week and over the next two months as works continue on new road junction.
The closures at Redhill, near Stafford Audi, are needed so that work can be carried out safely on the construction of a new junction providing access to a new housing development to the east of the road.
This Wednesday, October 20th, the A34 will be closed in both directions on this section from 8pm until 5am the next morning. A signed diversion will be in place via A51, A518, A513 and vice versa.
During this period, any vehicles needing to access Redhill Business Park will do so northbound from the Redhill roundabout. All other properties can be accessed on the A34 southbound from the A51 junction. The road closure point at the junction of Whitgreave Lane will be manned by a traffic management operative for access to properties beyond this point.
A further overnight closure of the A34 in both directions is scheduled to take place on Friday, November 26th, in addition to further dates in December so resurfacing can take place. These dates will be publicised nearer the time. The works are due to be completed in January 2022.”
Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport David Williams said:
“This junction will provide access to a large housing development off the busy A34. For work to be carried out safely we do unfortunately need to put some overnight closures in place.
“These are scheduled when the road is at its quietest though we understand a considerable number of vehicles do use the road at these times and so advise people to allow additional travel time to follow the diversions.
“These works are scheduled for a new year completion. We’d like to thank people for their patience and understanding until then.”
