Police appeal after elderly couple are burgled

A man barged into an elderly couple’s home in Walton on Wednesday evening and stole gold cufflinks and cash. Police have appealed for information.

At 6pm on Wednesday 27th February a male knocked on the door of the elderly couple’s home and barged in when it was opened.

He made a search of cupboards and drawers and left through the front door after stealing a set of gold cufflinks and £20 in cash. It is believed he left the area in what was described as a long silver vehicle. The male is described as white, about 25 years’ old and was wearing a black zip-up jacket, jeans and boots. He was clean-shaven and had short greased-back hair.

A police spokeswoman said today that the couple were checked over by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment. They were uninjured but were understandably left shaken by the incident.

If you have any information, please call Staffordshire Police on 101 (quoting incident number 635 of 27th February) or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
