A number of items, including children’s toys, were illegally dumped just off a village lane near Stone after Christmas.
The rubbish, which was dumped some time between Christmas and New Year in Cross Lane in the village of Oulton, has sparked an appeal from Stafford Borough Council, and is to be featured on their “Grimewatch” webpage.
As part of the Grimewatch initiative, residents are asked to provide information, such as pictures & details, of the “unsolved grimes” featured on the council’s webpage. The latest photos show the toys along with a variety of other household items such as children’s clothes and shoes, a mattress and a small PVC window. There is also a work jacket from the Wincanton branch of Screwfix.
Photographs on the site include location, date & other details about the illegal tipping, as the council appeal for people with information to get in touch.
Last year fly tipping cost the borough around £25,000 in clean ups – with a number of people fined in separate incidents for dumping items illegally.
Councillor Frank Finlay, Cabinet Member for Environment and Health, said: “We will not tolerate any form of littering and if you are caught then you will be fined or prosecuted. People who have a pride in their area are rightly outraged when others treat country lanes and fields as a dumping ground. But we need the help of the public to trace the offenders so if anyone has information on this or any other fly tipping then please let us know immediately.”
