Pro-Drive Recruitment drives into new Stone base

A family run recruitment business with more than 30 years of experience has made Stone its new home.

Pro-Drive Recruitment has relocated to Unit 1 at Diamond Business Park, where its three person team is providing recruitment and staffing support to businesses across Staffordshire and the wider region.

The company was established in 1995 by experienced haulage driver Glyn Skyrme, who believed there was a gap in the market for a recruitment service which properly understood the transport industry.

Today, the business is led by Glyn’s son Alex Skyrme, Managing Partner, alongside Katie Skyrme, who looks after accounts, payroll and recruitment. They are joined by Senior Recruitment Consultant Joe Birks.

Transport and logistics remain at the heart of Pro-Drive’s work, with the company recruiting HGV drivers and other transport professionals. It also recruits for industrial, commercial and clerical positions, covering temporary, ongoing and permanent vacancies.

A new base in Stone

The team said Stone’s location and transport connections made it a natural base for the business, particularly because of its proximity to the A34 and M6 and the number of transport and logistics businesses operating across Staffordshire.

Alex Skyrme told A Little Bit of Stone:

“Stone has always felt like the right home for Pro-Drive. Being at the heart of Staffordshire, with excellent road links and close proximity to the M6, A34 and the wider network of transport and logistics businesses, it’s ideally placed for the industry we work in.

“But for us, it’s about more than just location. Stone is a close-knit community with a strong local business network, and being based here has allowed us to build genuine, long-standing relationships with both our clients and our drivers.”

The company says its consultants’ first hand experience within transport is an important part of its approach. Members of the team have previously worked as HGV drivers and transport managers, giving them practical knowledge of the jobs they are recruiting for.

As well as working with haulage and logistics companies, Pro-Drive supports businesses with their own transport, warehouse and distribution operations, along with employers looking to fill industrial, office and administrative roles.

The team said it tries to visit clients and understand their workplaces rather than simply working from a vacancy description.

Recruiting across the region

Pro-Drive currently works with employers and candidates across Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Current vacancies include HGV Class 1 and Class 2 driving roles around Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford, Derby, Uttoxeter and Crewe, along with general operative, forklift truck, administration and office support positions.

Readers looking for work can also find other vacancies from businesses in and around Stone through the A Little Bit of Stone jobs section.

The company is also looking to speak to local businesses which need support with recruitment and expects to expand its own team in the near future.

Pro-Drive’s Stone office is open from 8am until 5pm, Monday to Friday, although the business operates a 24 hour, 365 day service for clients and candidates.

There is no formal opening event planned, but the team says local businesses, candidates and residents are welcome to call into the Diamond Business Park office for a coffee and a chat.
