Pupils from St Dominic’s Catholic Primary School in Stone used their loaf recently to learn about the art of baking as part of a Mini Enterprise project.
The children were visited by Northwich-based Roberts Bakery to find out how to make the perfect loaf of bread. Armed with their baking mop caps and special Roberts Bakery aprons, the children were guided through the bread-making process by Keith Birkett and Wayne Hewitt from Roberts Bakery. The visit formed part of a Mini Enterprise project at the school, where children learn avout running a business
Veronica Gurman, teacher at St Dominic’s, said: “This visit was a brilliant treat for the children after they had worked so hard in their SATS. And despite all the sticky fingers, they were very proud to create a really delicious loaf of bread to take home with them.”
Keith Birkett of Roberts Bakery added: “Making bread never fails to please youngsters and they are always amazed at how this messy dough can become something good enough to eat! But of course, our visit contributed to their Mini Enterprise project and we are very pleased to have given the children a working example of a how a successful business is run.”
