Retro and vintage clothing store, Retro Shack, sets up shop in Stone town centre – opening April 2021!
We caught up with the people behind the business to learn more about the Retro Shack.
Retro Shack will be a truly family business, building on the families already existing clothing retail experience. The team are Carla Hill, who opened up the ladieswear shop Just Carla in Granville Square in 2018 – https://alittlebitofstone.com/2018/04/04/just-carla-brings-real-clothes-for-real-women-to-stone/ and will continue to run that shop whilst Retro Shack is moving into space above Just Carla and will be run and managed by Carla’s husband Rich and 17-year-old son Luca.
It was actually Carla’s son Luca who provided the inspiration for the vintage shop with Carla explaining:
“My son is currently finishing his A-levels and is hoping to go to Sussex University to study law and business. He’s decided to take a year out, because of the ongoing pandemic, however, whilst visiting Sussex Uni in Brighton last year we loved the vibe and the unique shops down there.”
Carla went on to explain:
“Luca has a huge interest in vintage and retro clothing and we discussed how there is nowhere local that does anything similar and we should do something together. We very often travel to the Northern Quarter in Manchester to visit the vintage shops so we know there’s a market out there for this type of clothing.”
In terms of what the shop will stock the team have said:“There will be a variety of different stock all the time but the focus will mainly be the 80s and 90s vintage. We really think there will be something to suit anyone who loves to shop in those kinds of shops.”
