Staff, pupils and parents of St Dominic’s Priory School in Stone enjoyed a Diamond Jubilee Tea Party on Thursday 31st May.
Despite the disappointing weather, there was a lovely festive atmosphere in the Priory Hall, which was beautifully decorated with bunting. Pupils were asked to wear something red, making their uniform the colours of the Union Jack. Items ranged from ribbons in hair, feather boas and a Venetian mask! After singing the National Anthem, everyone tucked in to a delicious tea party.
We were joined by some rather interesting guests – a group of scarecrows made by each Prep class for next month’s Barn Dance. There was a ‘St Dominic’s Priory School Pupil’ scarecrow, complete with full uniform, and the ‘Phil the Caretaker’ scarecrow, wearing full overalls and holding a paintbrush, was awarded first prize in the competition.
Joining them were the Royal Scarecrows, and what a spectacle they were! Queen Elizabeth, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge seemed to enjoy the event – and especially the beautiful cakes.
