If on Saturday 30th July, you are greeted by the peculiar sight of a group of cyclists in white shirts with red spots pounding the streets of Stone, this will be Jennifer Burrows’ niece Emily Lawson with a group of her friends and family, mostly army physics, on their way from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
They will be stopping for a quick lunch break at Jennifer’s house in Aston Lodge. Jennifer’s brother John had planned to join them on this venture to celebrate retiring from teaching and to raise some money for the brain injury charity Headway.
Sadly, John died of a stroke last August so Emily is dedicating this trip to him, with the support of her mother, sister and other family members.
If you see this crowd of spotty cyclists, please give them a cheery wave to spur them on – they have to get to Buxton by nightfall and it’s hills all the way!
