Stone Old Alleynians FC is preparing to bring its men’s first team back to Stone before the end of the year, following major investment in new facilities at Alleyne’s Sports Centre.

The club says the redevelopment, valued at £1.2 million, includes a new 3G football pitch, spectator stands and a clubhouse, allowing the first team to play its home matches in the town once again.
The team currently groundshares with Newcastle Town FC, with its Midland Football League fixtures played outside Stone.
The move will bring an end to a lengthy spell away from the town for the men’s first team, which has been unable to play its home league matches in Stone because of the lack of suitable facilities.
New facilities at Alleyne’s Sports Centre
The redevelopment at the Oulton Road site has been progressing following plans announced in partnership with Alleyne’s Academy.
Earlier this year, ALBOS reported on the planning application, which proposed enlarging the existing artificial playing surface, installing a new 3G pitch and building a spectator stand.
Stafford Borough Council granted planning permission in June 2026 for the pitch improvements and a stand accommodating 200 seated and 200 standing spectators.
The wider redevelopment also involves the former swimming pool facilities, with changing rooms being converted into a clubhouse.
Stone Old Alleynians says it expects the first team to begin playing home matches at the ground before the end of 2026, with plans to live stream home fixtures for supporters who cannot attend.

Local businesses invited to get involved
As preparations continue for the move, the club is inviting local businesses to consider sponsorship opportunities at the new ground.
Options include advertising boards around the pitch, player sponsorship, matchday and match ball sponsorship, official travel sponsorship and naming rights for the clubhouse and new stand.
The club says a local business has already secured the naming rights to the stadium, while other companies have supported it through matchday programme advertising.
ALBOS previously reported on the club’s sponsorship appeal ahead of the 2026/27 football season.
Stone Old Alleynians was founded in 1962 and has grown to include more than 70 teams covering children’s, men’s, women’s, veterans and disability football.
The club says it now has more than 1,000 players and 275 volunteers, alongside activities including walking football and mental health and wellbeing sessions.
It was also named Staffordshire FA Club of the Year for the 2025/26 season.
