Stone Radio kick starts Christmas!

Sunday 22nd November will see Stone Radio kickstarting the festive season in their Breakfast show.

The station’s brand new website is up & running, and presenters and co-directors, Paul Dean and Cliff Goodwin, will be taking requests via the website live during the show.

Cliff said: “As Stone’s virtual lights switch-on took place virtually on Thursday night, we thought we should kick the Christmas party off by playing non-stop Christmas music between 9am and 10am on our Breakfast Show.

“It’s been a tough year, so over the past couple of months, we’ve put on special programmes for our local community for Halloween and Remembrance Sunday, as we couldn’t celebrate these in the usual way.

“We obviously all have our fingers crossed that we can mark Christmas in as normal a way as possible, but in the meantime, we’re still in a second national lockdown and so we wanted to bring some seasonal cheer into our radio programming.”

The Breakfast Show is a popular part of the community radio station’s weekly programming and includes news from around the town and the UK along with competitions.

To submit your song requests and to listen to the show live, visit stoneradio.co.uk. Stone Radio broadcasts every Sunday over the internet and all shows are available at any time on a ‘listen again’ basis.

The station aims to serve and engage with the local community, and has a huge variety of shows with a real focus on the feel of the station, in keeping with the strap line as the “Web’s Brightest Radio Station”. It offers an eclectic mix of music, chat, interviews and local news and gossip.

The project survives through the generosity of its sponsors, with local companies and groups sponsoring shows supplemented by other donations from local businesses and the organisers of events using the outside broadcast facilities.
