Stone’s High Street will come alive on the evening of Thursday 20 November with pantomime performances, a school choir and festive stalls as the town’s Christmas lights are switched on.
The event, organised by Stone Town Council, opens at 5pm with Kath Stanway compering the evening’s entertainment. Pupils from Alleynes Drama Society will take to the stage with scenes from their Christmas pantomime Cinderella, while the combined schools’ choir, led this year by Mr Harrison from Christchurch Academy, will fill the High Street with music ahead of the big switch-on.
Lights, fairground and festive stalls
At 7pm, the lights will be switched on by the Town Mayor, Councillor Jason Metters, joined by Father Christmas and the winners of the Mayor’s Christmas Card competition.
Warwick’s Funfair will again line the Market Square and High Street, with a mix of food, trade and charity stalls offering plenty to browse and buy.

Councillor Jill Hood, who chairs the council’s Tourism and Town Promotion Sub-Committee, said:
“I always look forward to this event, when the High Street is lit up with Christmas trees and the school choirs sing to the town. We are excited to welcome Alleynes students to perform scenes from their pantomime this year.
We will again be putting on a fantastic show, with a full programme of entertainment and even Santa himself putting in an appearance.
This is always a hugely popular event for all age groups, and I hope you will join us on the evening to welcome the Christmas season to Stone.”
Supported by local and national funding
This year’s switch-on is supported by funding from Stafford Borough Council’s High Street Boost campaign and the UK Government.
The council has also advised visitors to be cautious of mobile traders selling light-up toys in the High Street. These sellers are not authorised by the council and people are discouraged from buying from them for safety reasons.
When and where
The Christmas Lights Switch-On takes place on Thursday 20 November 2025, with entertainment from 5pm and the lights being switched on at 7pm.
