The Stone Puppet Tree Jamboree will take place on Saturday 8th July in the Market Square, Stone from 10:30am to 3pm and has been arranged so that local people, especially children, can be actively involved with the wonderful world of Puppetry.
The Staffordshire Puppet Tree is a not-for-profit community group bringing people together to build and develop a community and audience for puppetry in the “Creative County.”
The Opening Parade will begin in Station Road (opposite the Poste of Stone) at 10.30am and makes its way down the High Street and back up to the Market Square, where the fun and entertainment starts with “Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid” a dance fusion of ballroom, Latin, contemporary and tap from The Sanctuary Studio Dancers.
The Stone Town Mayor will be greeted by Mr Punch and Muffin the Mule who will invite The Mayor to open the event and introduce the first of 10 puppet shows throughout the day. We aim to show that everyone can have fun with puppets, not simply as spectators but as participants.
During the day, children in the audience will be invited to try their hand at handling some of the puppets and take part in presenting a performance.
All shows, and activities, are completely free of charge.
