GCSE students hit the high notes at Alleynes, with 2016 being among some of the best results years in the Academy’s history!
A whopping 73% of the 16 year olds achieved a grade A*-C including English & Maths, and enjoyed their highest progress percentages ever, with 88% making expected progress in English, and 76% in Maths.
36 students obtained 5 or more grades at A or A*:
- Shatton Gosh 5 A*
- Tom Hill 7 A*
- Matthew Latham 6 A*
- Lois Minnis 6 A*
- Sam Oldham 6 A*
- David Stone 7 A*
- Jamie Weddell 8 A*
Whilst girls continued to perform well, boys made a 10% increase in the percentage obtaining A* – C including English and Maths to 71%.
With a 14% increase in the percentage of disadvantaged students obtaining A* – C including English and Maths to 58%, equal to the national figure for all students in 2015, the Academy’s extensive programme to support disadvantaged students is also a succes.
Headteacher, Karen Lockett, commented, “We are delighted with the results of our GCSE students. Yet another improvement in progress, students and staff worked extremely hard and a big thank you to all parents for their support”.
