Motorists are facing two weeks of overnight closures on the A34 as resurfacing work returns once again to the Pets at Home roundabout, just north of Stafford.

The developer-funded scheme starts on Monday 11th August and will take place weeknights from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am until Friday 22nd August.
Note: No work will take place over the weekend of Saturday 16th or Sunday 17th August.

It marks yet another round of resurfacing at this busy junction, which has already been subject to similar closures in recent years.

To carry out the work safely, the roundabout and the stretch of the A34 between the Redhill roundabout (A513) and Aston roundabout (A51) will be closed each night. A signed diversion will be in place via the A5013, A519 and A51.

Access to homes will be maintained

  • Properties along the northbound A34 should be accessed from the Redhill roundabout.
  • Properties along the southbound A34 can be reached via the Aston roundabout.
  • Partridge Walk and Bertelin Fields residents should also use the Redhill route.
  • Bus services will not be affected and will continue as normal.

Timing aims to reduce disruption

Councillor Peter Mason, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for strategic highways, said:

“This resurfacing scheme of the busy Pets at Home roundabout is funded entirely by the developer and has been scheduled to take place overnight and during the school summer break to keep disruption to a minimum.

We’d ask people needing to travel during the closure times to plan ahead and use alternative routes and would like to thank people in advance for their patience.”

Will this be the final resurfacing of this roundabout?

Firstly why does it need resurfacing, and where does the diversion take you? Is it through Sandon, my daughter lives on the new estate how are they to get into town apart from paying more in fuel to go all the way round
