Motorists visiting Morrisons in Stone on Thursday 18th November were given guidance by officers from Stone Neighbourhood Policing Unit (NPU) and the Roads Policing Team as part of free vehicle winter safety checks.
Officers also gave shoppers and motorists advice about keeping their property safe and secure, both in their vehicles and at home.
Police spoke with drivers and carried out vehicle examinations to reassure owners that tyres, lights, hand brakes, seatbelts and batteries were in good working order and fit for the winter weather. Forty vehicles were checked, with six motorists given advice about minor defects on their cars.
Officers from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were also on hand to give out useful fire prevention advice.
Sgt Jeremy Heath from the Roads Policing Team said: “This gave the police and fire service the opportunity to speak with shoppers and drivers too. Many motorists were looking for the reassurance that their cars and vans were safe and seeking advice on staying safe and driving in icy conditions.”
