2019 Stone Christmas Lights Switch – When and Where?

Stone Town Council have today released the details of this year Christmas Lights Switch-on which takes place next week.

A week later than in 2018, the Stone Christmas Lights switch-on will take place on Thursday 21st November, kicking off from 5:00pm.

A real highlight on the town’s event calendar this family-friendly event brings a great festive focus to the towns High Street.

The focus this year will again be on local young people, who will compère the event, provide the entertainment, and help to turn on the lights.

Festivities get underway at 5:00pm with the High Street and Market Square filled with a selection of food, charity and craft stalls and a selection of fun-fair rides. There will also be a number of town centre shops who will also be staying open later to welcome shoppers in.

The formal timings for the event are:

  • 5.00pm – the evening kicks off and will be once again compèred by Samantha Lloyd
  • 5.30pm – Snow Queen
  • 6.00pm – Stone’s Combined Schools Choir perform a collection of Christmas favourites
  • 6.30pm – Compere Samantha Lloyd will switch hats like she did in 2018 and take on a musical role to take the evening up to the main lights switch-on event
  • 7.00pm – Lights Switch-on

This year the Christmas Lights will be switched on by the winner of the Town Council’s Christmas Card design competition for schools, supported by the Town Mayor and, of course, Father Christmas before he gets ready for his Stone tour in December.

Councillor Jill Hood said

“I am pleased to be able to invite everyone to this fantastic evening of entertainment and fun, with appearances by the Snow Queen and Santa as part of this celebration of the start of the Christmas season.”
