Men arrested following Stone death

MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH A MURDER INVESTIGATION IN STONE:

Detectives in Staffordshire have launched a murder enquiry after a young man died in a street in Stone in the early hours of Saturday (12 April 2014). Emergency services were called to Whitemill Lane, Stone at twenty past midnight to respond to reports that a 22-year-old man with a serious stab wound.

Despite the efforts of a the paramedics, sadly it was later confirmed that the man had died at the scene. A large area of Whitemill Lane has been cordoned off to allow a detailed forensic examination of the scene to take place. A weapon has been recovered from the scene and an autopsy will take place later.

At around 2:50 am an 29-year-old male was arrested from an address in Stone in connection with this incident and he will be questioned by detectives from the force CID. Specially trained family liaison officers will now work to support the family affected by this incident.

We are at the beginning of a very detailed investigation into the death of a young man. We have already spoken to a number of witnesses about this incident but we are really keen to speak to anyone else who may have any information about this incident.

Part of our work includes support the with the family and keeping them updated about our work at this very difficult time, and those with any information can help all those affected by contacting us.

Local police officers and Police Community Support Officers will be in the area of Whitemill Lane throughout the weekend to provide reassurance and support to the local community affected by this incident and we want to thank the residents nearest the scene for their cooperation whilst we conduct our detailed work.

Detectives in Staffordshire are appealing for help in tracing a man wanted for questioning in connection with the death of a man in Stone in the early hours of Saturday morning (12 April 2014).

Detectives launched the murder investigation after emergency services were called to Whitemill Lane, Stone at twenty past midnight to respond to reports of a 22-year-old man with a serious stab wound. Sadly, despite the efforts of the paramedics, it was confirmed that the man had died at the scene. The man who died was Connan McLeod, from Stone, a post-mortem has since confirmed that the cause of death was a stab wound.

Two men aged 20 and 29-years-old has now been arrested in connection with this investigation and police are keen to speak third man in connection with the death of the Mr McLeod.

Detective Inspector Steve Smith from Staffordshire Police CID said: “We are keen to speak to 26-year-old Daniel Allott, formally of Stafford but current of no fixed address, as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of Connan in Whitemill Lane, Stone early this morning.

“I want to appeal directly to Daniel to call the police immediately so we can arrange to speak to him about this incident. We are doing a great deal of work to trace him and we will continue to visit locations and people connected to him.
“I would urge anyone who knows Daniel’s location to call Staffordshire Police, and not to approach him directly. We have specially trained family liaison officers working to support the family of the man who died and they are aware of the progress of the investigation.”

A detailed forensic investigation of the scene has now been completed and officers from the local policing team continue to patrol the area to speak to local residents about any concerns.
