Police have warned people to be on their guards after a possible rogue trader was found to be visiting homes in Stone touting for building work.
He visited the home of an elderly resident in Mount Road on Thursday 26th February to give a quote for a new wall. The details he gave were found not to be genuine and police have now warned residents to be on their guard. The male is described as white, aged in his 40s or 50s and he had a beard. He is 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build and was wearing black jeans and a black jacket. He was with a black car that had blacked-out windows.
Please remind your neighbours, especially the elderly and vulnerable, that police and Trading Standards advice is not to buy or sell at the door. Anyone requiring any home improvement work should, in the first instance, obtain three different quotes from three different, reputable companies. Any suspicious callers should be reported to the police immediately.
