Barlaston’s World of Wedgwood is celebrating the first Staffordshire Day on May 1st with a food and craft market.
As well as the fine food and artisan craft market, there will be a feast of family fun and festivities at the visitor attraction to mark this special day – which is also the anniversary of the formation of the Wedgwood pottery company.
As well as a number of stalls selling locally produced gourmet food and drink, confectionery, handmade gifts such as jewellery and glassware and garden furniture, there will be plenty of attractions that will make the inaugural Staffordshire Day truly memorable for visitors.
Fun, games and entertainment will be provided throughout the day by renowned jester The Fool Monty. There will also be a maypole, complete with musical accompaniment, giving both children and adults alike the opportunity to learn some traditional dances from an experienced instructor.
In addition, The Cultural Sisters, the visual and participatory arts organisation, will be running children’s craft workshops to make colourful kites inspired by Wedgwood’s floral, bird and butterfly designs, using willow, paper, tape, colourful ribbons and twine. Families will be able to take their creations home as a memento of the day.
[box type=”shadow” align=”aligncenter” ]Heather Broadhurst, General Manager at World of Wedgwood, said: “We wholeheartedly supported the campaign run by Enjoy Staffordshire to establish a day dedicated to celebrating Staffordshire. It is a truly amazing region with so much to offer. It is an extra special day for us, as it is the anniversary of the Wedgwood pottery company being set up, so naturally we wanted to really push the boat out and make it a day to remember for our visitors. We invite people from across Staffordshire and beyond to come along on May 1st to join in our fabulous festivities!”[/box]
