From Tuesday, the 7th of February, Staffordshire Police will be disabling their Facebook and Instagram direct messaging capabilities in favour of a new Live Chat for the reporting of non-urgent crime.
Staffordshire Police is set to launch a new LiveChat function via their website for reporting non-urgent crimes on Tuesday, February 7th, at 7am. The change aims to improve the police’s response time and communication efficiency.
With the implementation of this new scheme, the moment you initiate a LiveChat with the police, a dedicated Force Control Room Operator will be assigned to your case and will ensure that the matter you are discussing is handled in an appropriate and proportional manner.
While Staffordshire Police will continue to share information on social media and issue Smart Alerts and press releases, they have urged the public to refrain from reporting crimes or concerns via social media from February 7th as they will no longer be able to respond on those platforms.
It is important to note that these changes will not affect the public’s ability to report emergencies by calling 101 or 999.
