Crown Wharf Theatre in Stone is celebrating its first anniversary with news of a new in-house production set for 2026.

It has been a year since the theatre opened its doors, and in that time more than 10,500 seats have been filled. From the sell-out success of Shakespeare in Love last November to pantomimes, concerts, cinema screenings and comedy nights, the venue has quickly become a fixture in the town’s cultural calendar.
The community-led theatre has worked with a wide range of local and visiting groups. From performing arts companies and community choirs to schools and charities – creating a diverse mix of performances on stage.
More than 100 volunteers have played a part in that success, giving over 2,600 hours of their time to help run events, welcome audiences and keep things running smoothly. The theatre said their contribution had been “the heartbeat of the venue” during its first year.

Looking ahead
The coming months will see a busy programme, including Songs For A New Decade by Theatre1, festive screenings of classic films, and Christmas shows from Stone Revellers, Stone Choral Society and Musical Youth Theatre Stafford.
Into 2026, audiences can expect productions including It’s My Life, We Will Rock You (Young @ Part), Bonnie and Clyde, Beauty and the Beast and If/Then.
Jack Absolute to fly again
Theatre organisers have also confirmed the next in-house production following Shakespeare in Love.
In November 2026, Crown Wharf Theatre will present Jack Absolute Flies Again, a wartime comedy by Richard Bean and Oliver Chris. The show will run from Friday 6th to Saturday 14th November 2026, with tickets set to go on sale early in the new year.
