And she's up! By 4pm on Monday, the huge 160ft marquee was standing tall

The first marquee has gone up at Westbridge Park ahead of the big Food & Drink Festival weekend that kicks off on Friday.

A crew of six worked all day to erect the marquee

The huge 260ft-long marquee took a team of six men from Burgoynes Marquees in Herefordshire all day to put up – and they’ve got more to erect over the next few days as Westbridge Park becomes the base for the Gourmet Food Marquee experience that thousands of people will enjoy on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

There will be over 70 stalls showcasing the finest food and drink from across Staffordshire and the Midlands, as well as lots of cooking demonstrations and much, much more.

The grand opening takes place at 1pm on Friday and the Gourmet Food Marquees will be open until 8pm on that day. Perhaps the highlight of the whole festival, the Hairy Bikers will be on site on Sunday and will perform two cooking demonstrations.

These guys would have no problem with a tent!

There’s lots more information at the official website here – and there’s certainly lots going on around the town all this week in the build-up to the big weekend!

The workers used ropes to hoist the marquee up into place when the frame was done
