Alleyne’s Academy students collect GCSE results in Stone

Year 11 students at Alleyne’s Academy have been collecting their GCSE results in Stone today, Thursday 20 August, as they prepare for their next steps in education and training.

Two Alleyne’s Academy students pose with a Results Day frame and blue and silver balloons inside the school hall in Stone.

The academy said the results reflected the hard work and determination of this year’s cohort, with students securing a range of outcomes following their time at the school.

Ms Lindsay Tibbs, headteacher at Alleyne’s Academy, said

“We are so incredibly proud of our students and what they have achieved. This cohort have embraced all of the opportunities we have given them and we are confident that they are now ready to embrace their next steps.

“We are grateful to the community that has secured this success and I want to thank our staff, parents and governors who have supported this cohort.”

What comes next

For many students, today also marks the point where attention turns to sixth form, college, apprenticeships or other training.

Alleyne’s says many of its Year 11 students have chosen to continue at its Sixth Form, while applications remain open both to existing pupils and students currently attending other schools.

Anyone interested in joining Alleyne’s Sixth Form can contact Mr R Haydon, Head of Sixth Form, at r.haydon@alleynes.staffs.sch.uk.

Staffordshire County Council is also reminding young people that support is available if they are unsure about their next step, or if their GCSE results were not what they had hoped for.

Its Choosing Your Options website brings together information about routes including sixth form, college, apprenticeships, work based learning and other training.

Young people need to remain in some form of education or training until they are 18, although that does not have to mean staying at school or college full time.

Janet Higgins, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and SEND, said

“If your results are not quite what you hoped for, please do not feel that your future is fixed by this one day. There are many different routes open to you, from sixth form and college to apprenticeships, work-based learning and other training, and there is support available to help you decide what comes next.”

The council also has a careers helpline available from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, on 01785 854125. Young people can also email CareersParticipation@staffordshire.gov.uk for help.
